Keisuke began his acting career in New York by ignoring his own ethnic stereotype.
Rather than waiting for plays with Asian characters, he instead auditioned for – and won! – roles in productions of classic, non-Asian shows like “1776,” “My Fair Lady,” “The Last of Mrs. Lincoln,” and “Anything Goes.” He continued this philosophy in Hollywood, racking up hundreds of stage performances in both Asian and non-Asian roles with the Venture West Theatre Company, Classical Theatre Lab, Gily Productions, Fire Rose Productions, and the Geffen Playhouse.
An occasional writer and musician, he wrote, produced, and starred in the world’s first Martial Arts Musical Comedy, “Memoirs of a Ninja.” His satirical work ran in Los Angeles and won five Maddy Awards, five Garland Awards, and was honored as a “The Best Theatre 2000” pick by NiteLife After Dark magazine. Also, his dad really enjoyed it.
An arts educator & administrator, Keisuke co-founded the New York Summer Music Festival, a summer camp for young musicians in Oneonta, NY. He literally did everything there, including hosting over 400 live concerts; managing all communications, marketing, and tech; teaching daily classes in filmmaking, acting, and musical theatre; and producing 120 original films and musicals for the festival. He is also a founder of the Michigan Performing Arts Camp (MIPAC) and taught at the Hartwick College Summer Music Festival and Institute (HCSMFI).
Keisuke holds a Masters Degree in Technical Communication from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and a B.A. in English with a minor in Music from the State University of New York (SUNY) Potsdam. He is a graduate of Stuyvesant High School in NYC and has performed in Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and at the White House.
He has worked as a professional technical communicator for IBM, AT&T, NCR, and Teradata. He’s also been a journalist, graphic designer, computer consultant, podcast producer, and all kinds of other stuff.
